Caring for Your Candles

To ensure the best performance and safety of your candle, follow these guidelines:

How to store your candle?

  1. When your candle isn't in use, store in a cool dry place and cover it with an elegant candle lid to protect the quality wax from dust, which can dull its scent and cause problems during burning.

  2. Condensation on the surface of a candle is a sign it has not been stored correctly, or has been stored for too long. Make sure to wipe this away with a paper towel before lighting.

  3. Storing candles for too long can affect the scent, so use your candle in a reasonable time to make the most of its beautiful fragrance

How to burn your candle properly?

  1. Well-Ventilated Area: Light your candle in a well-ventilated room, away from drafts or fans, which can cause sooting (black marks on the vessel) and rapid, uneven burning.

  2. Proper Burn Time: Burn regular-sized candles for one and a half to two hours at a time. Burning them for less time can cause "tunneling," leaving a build-up of wax around the vessel's sides. Burning for longer periods (over four hours) can cause the wick to move or slant.

  3. Monitor Wax Level: Stop burning your candle when 10mm of wax remains at the bottom. Be sure to keep an eye on the candle when the wax level is low to ensure safety.

How to maintain your wicks?

1. Keep the Wax Pool Clean. Remove any wick trimmings or matches from the wax pool, as debris can act as a secondary wick, causing the candle to burn faster.

2. Center and Straighten the Wick. After extinguishing the flame with a snuffer, make sure to center and straighten the wick. Prolonged burning can cause the wick to move or slant. If you notice the flame nearing the vessel wall, extinguish the candle and straighten the wick to prevent the vessel from cracking.

3. Trim the Wick. Long or crooked wicks can result in high flames, smoking, or sooting. To avoid these issues, trim the wick to 5mm once the wax has set.

Why does my candle only burn to one side?

  1. As you check the wick length, also be sure to check that the wick is standing straight. If it leans to one side, the flame will melt the wax on one side of your candle and not the other. To straighten the wick, gently push it with a wick dipper or a knife until the wick is centered in the jar.
